We are seeking experienced Senior Mining Engineers to assist with Support planning and delivery of shaft sinking and underground works as part of the Appin Ventilation Project.

Redpath is the main contractor delivering the design and construction of two major ventilation shafts for the Appin coal mine in Menangle, New South Wales. These are critical infrastructure that will supply and manage airflow in the underground mine, supporting long-term operations and access to new development areas.

Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Provide engineering leadership to the shaft sinking engineering team
  • Lead, coach and review the work of engineers, setting technical standards, reviewing shaft sink designs and ensuring disciplined engineering practices are applied consistently.
  • Manage drill and blast performance as a critical path activity, ensuring designs, sequencing, resourcing and execution minimise delays and support project milestones.
  • Review and approve shaft sinking cycle designs, stage plans and ground support systems, ensuring alignment with geotechnical specifications, statutory obligations and foreseeable production requirements.
  • Partner closely with the Project Manager and Operations to identify risks, constraints and mining support issues early, driving timely engineering solutions.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules and cost estimates, and support delivery of daily and weekly underground schedules that meet production targets.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment and resources to achieve project milestones, continuously analysing mining methods and equipment performance for improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure effective communication of design changes, drill and blast updates and execution plans across engineering, production and contractor teams, supported by accurate reporting and performance tracking.
  • Collate data to assist with shaft sinking operational improvements
  • Manage and update reporting including daily and shiftly reporting

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mining, or civil engineering or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Exposure to drill and blast (desirable)
  • 3-5 years mining industry experience desirable.
  • Experience in site based role on construction projects essential
  • Proficiency in mine planning and design and project scheduling preferred
  • Proven capability to work in a complex environment.
  • Ability to apply for a current National Police Clearance and pass a pre - employment medical before commencing the position
